Holy Bat-Eggs Batman, What Are Those Easter Eggs All About?

Now that the hunt for eggs is over and everyone is relaxed sitting happily with baskets full of bunny treats, it may be interesting to know what those painted eggs are all about. According to the History Channel, decorating Easter eggs are linked to pagan traditions and dates back to the 13th  Century. Easter eggs are said to represent the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb. The eggs were painted or decorated as forbidden food during lent, from Ash Wednesday leading up to Easter. The painted eggs would mark the end of penance and fasting and then eaten during the celebration of Easter.
