The iPhone 6 Silver is secured in a UAG composite case, no screen protector, and only tethered to a weather balloon and parachute.
After reaching an altitude over 101,000 feet the balloon encounters -79 degrees Fahrenheit and 70 MPH winds, the iPhone begins its rapid decent to Earth.
The parachute deploys, but struggles to stabilize. The rig sustains damage and brakes apart.
The flight lasts 3 hours and covers 12 miles. The iPhone froze and shut down in its ascent into low temperatures. When the iPhone is recovered, it’s powered up and fully functional.
No iPhones were damaged in the making of this video.
