“Star Trek” Leonard Nimoy dies at age 83. His son, Adam Nimoy said he died of end-age obstructive pulmonary disease at his Los Angeles home Friday February 27, 2015.
“He affected the lives of many,” Adam Nimoy said. “He was also a great guy and my best friend.”
Leonard Nimoy is known for playing Spock the calm green-blooded Vulcan opposite to William Shatner’s Captain Kirk on the 1966-69 Star Trek series. Nimoy played in the movie remake of “Star Trek: The Search For Spock”, staring as himself, on The Simpsons, The Fringe and the reboot of the recent “Star Trek: Into Darkness” confronting a younger version of himself.
Nimoy also published books, for children and an autobiographical “I Am Not Spock” (1975) and “I Am Spock” (1995).
He married Sandra Zober a fellow student who he had two children with, Julie and Adam. He was divorced and married Susan Bay in 1988.
