Super girl will save her city in a brighter way when she debuts on CBS in Nov. 2015.
The plot will begins with Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl portrayed by Melissa Benoist (Whiplash, Glee), born on the planet Krypton, escaping amid its destruction years ago with her famous cousin. She’s now 24 years old, struggling at first to embrace her superhuman abilities to become the hero she was meant to be.
Kara works an assistant under Cat Grant played by Calista Flockhart (Brothers and Sisters, Ally McBeal) with James Olsen, transferred from The Daily Planet, played by Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood).
The shows trailer is light hearted and quirky with pop music playing in the background, unlike the dark serious cinematic D.C. Universe. There’s also a tease of her cousin Superman.
“My cousin wanted me to do this?” said Kara Danvers replying to Olsen giving her a durable cape given to her by Superman.
So how and if it will tie into the D.C. Universe is the million dollar question. The Arrow and Flash have crossed over on the CW small screen, but don’t hold your breath for CBS to release Supergirl to make that same crossover leap into that series.
Alex Danvers played by Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy, Taxi Brooklyn) is also featured along with Hank Henshaw being played by David Harewood (Homeland, Blood Diamond).
