Salmon provides good source of protein

Salmon provides on average 7 grams of protein per serving.

There is a recommended amount of protein for men and women, according the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for protein, assembled by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine.

The recommendation for men is 56 grams of protein daily.

Women recommendation may vary starting at 46 grams daily. Pregnant or breast-feeding, aim for 71 grams of protein daily.

Each body is different. So as a rule of thumb regardless of gender, 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight is recommended.

To calculate your intake divide your weight in pounds by 2.2 to convert to kilograms. As an example, if you weigh 180 pounds, or 82 kilograms, you’ll need 65.5 grams of protein each day.

Serving of salmon contains about 7 grams of protein; 1 egg 6 grams; red potato has about 1-2.5g of protein; banana has about 1.5g protein; cup of spinach has 1 gram.
